from 12/14 to 01/09 Raffaella Crispino, Nicola Nunziata, Pietro Mele, Riccardo Giacconi, Elisa Strinna. SOTTOBOSCO C/O CHAN A meeting between two young platforms for visual arts. CHAN is a small non-profit exhibition space for collective curatorial practice and acts as a platform for exchange and cooperation between emerging artists and young curators. Sottobosco is visual arts platform, a network of connection, sharing and archiving for emerging artists. CHAN’s location in Genoa hosts Sottobosco to exhibit videos by five artists. The first step of the collaborative process was the choice of video as a format. Each of the five artists, selected by Sottobosco from its archive, was asked to propose a video to be exhibited in CHAN’s location for three days. We avoided the traditional playlist format, with which videos are shown as a sequence, and chose to create a device allowing every work to have an own fruition space and time. As a result, we arranged a calendar starting on December 14th and ending on January 9th divided in five periods, each lasting three days. CHAN’s 15 square meters will be an active space for the whole duration of the event – a display changing show every three days. |
