Serena Porrati – Collasso

Museo Segantini, Arco ,TN, July 2015

By collapse we mean, etymologically, a fall, the collapse that suddenly determines the state of serious crisis of a system. A moment of instability which, on the bright side, can be seen as an opportunity for rebalancing.

The cyclicality and ineluctability of this process refers to the regularity (decay and regeneration) of natural rhythms. Therefore, we can consider decay as a construction process that composes new states of extension, size, importance and integrity, starting from a system and out of it without reforming or annulling it (…) . A construction process that is subtractive, in the sense that it is intensely subtractive and extensively positive, we can consider it the engine of continuous change.
